Robert F. Boyle

Robert Francis Boyle ( born October 10, 1909 in Los Angeles, † August 1, 2010 ) was an American art director and production designer, who has worked 1941-1991 at more than 100 productions.

He was the oldest Oscar winner in 2008 of all time (Honorary Oscar)

Career

He began his career as an architect, moved to the global economic crisis of 1929, but for the film. Since the 1940s, he worked with Alfred Hitchcock together (including in North by Northwest, 1959, The Birds, 1963 and Marnie, 1964). He also worked on films such as J. Lee Thompson's Cape Fear, Norman Jewison's The Thomas Crown Affair or Ernest Lehman's Portnoy's complaints.

Overall, Boyle was nominated four times for an Oscar. 1960 for North by Northwest, 1970 Norman Jewison's Gaily for, Gaily, 1972 Anatevka ( Fiddler on the Roof, also directed by Jewison ) and 1977 for the last sniper ( The Shootist ) by Don Siegel. However, he received the Oscar in 2008, when he received an honorary Oscar for his life's work. For the John Steinbeck adaptation The last word has Tilby Boyle was nominated for an Emmy in 1973. From the Art Directors Guild, he was awarded in 1997 with its first Lifetime Achievement Award. He was with the author Bess Boyle (1913-2000) married.

Daniel Raim 2000 produced an Oscar-nominated documentary about Robert F. Boyle, titled The Man on Lincoln 's Nose.
