Robert Florey

Robert Florey ( born September 14, 1900 in Paris, † May 16, 1979 in Santa Monica, California ) was a French- American film director, screenwriter and actor.

Life

Born in France was during the First World War in 1915 in Switzerland, where he was already with 15 camera assistant for the documentary Geneve. At 17, he made ​​his first appearance in melodrama Le cirque de la mort. At the same time he worked as a sports reporter. In 1920 he directed his first film Un heureuse intervention. In 1921 he moved to New York as a correspondent. After he had moved to Hollywood, he worked as an assistant to Josef von Sternberg, Frank Borzage and Victor Fleming, before he himself began in 1926 as a director.

In 1950 he was awarded the Order of the French Legion of Honour.
