Robert Francis (actor)

Robert Francis (actually Robert Charles Francis, born February 26, 1930 in Glendale, California, USA, † July 31, 1955 in Burbank, California ) was an American actor.

Life

Robert Francis ' brief career included only four feature films. At 25 he was an aspiring young actor, who in the war film classic The Caine was able to convince her fate alongside stars such as Humphrey Bogart, José Ferrer, Van Johnson and Fred MacMurray as a young officer Keith 1954. Already in his debut in the Western They rode westward, he played the lead role. Even in his two other films he played military personnel.

With his looks and his athleticism Robert Francis was a typical representative of the emerging young man in the 1950s, and thus on the way to a movie star. But on July 31, 1955, he died in a plane crash. Francis and a friend took off in a private plane from Bob Hope Airport in Burbank. The machine, which was the Australian junior golfer Joe Kirkwood and was directed by Francis himself lost, shortly after the start suddenly engine power and crashed on a deserted parking lot. Francis and his friend did not survive the crash.
