Robert Franklin Bratton

Robert Franklin Bratton ( born May 13, 1845 in Barren Creek Springs, Wicomico County, Maryland, † May 10, 1894 in Princess Anne, Maryland ) was an American politician. In 1893 and 1894 he represented the state of Maryland in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Robert Bratton attended until 1864, the Washington College in Chestertown. He then worked as Deputy Register in the management of Somerset County. In 1867 he was admitted to the bar; whether he has actually exercised this profession, is not known. At that time he began a political career as a member of the Democratic Party. In 1865 he was a member of Assembly, the delegates nominated for a national peace conference in Philadelphia. In addition, Bratton was a delegate to various local and statewide conferences. In 1869 he sat in the House of Maryland; in the years 1873, 1879, 1887 and 1890 he was a member of the State Senate.

In the congressional elections of 1892 Bratton was the first electoral district of Maryland in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of John Brewer Brown on March 4, 1893. He could not finish the ongoing until March 3, 1895 legislative session in Congress, because he already died on 10 May 1894. His mandate was made after a special election in Winder Laird Henry.
