Robert Getchell

Robert Getchell ( born 1943 in Kansas City, Missouri, United States) is an American screenwriter and university professor.

Life

Getchell studied English Language at the University of Missouri, where he graduated in 1965. Initially he worked as a freelance writer, he wrote the screenplay for 1974 Alice Does not Live Here Anymore, which was filmed by Martin Scorsese, and was nominated for which Getchell 1975 for an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay. His second Oscar nomination was Getchell in 1977 for his screenplay to This land is my land granted.

A low point of his career was the screenplay for the 1981 film produced Mommie Dearest, was honored for the Getchell in 1982 with the Golden Raspberry.

After Getchell in 1994 with The client wrote his last screenplay for a movie, he took a job as a professor of English literature, first at the University of Missouri, and later at Miami University in Ohio on. He is still active in the profession today.
