Robert Graf (actor)

Robert Graf ( born November 18, 1923 in Witten; † February 4, 1966 in Munich) was a German theater and film actor.

Life and work

After the Second World War was staggered Robert Graf to Munich. He found an engagement at the intimate theater. It was late, he was also active in the film business. In the little-known drama Jonas he gave his debut in 1957. Above all, we wonder in children (directed by Kurt Hoffmann) and later in the Buddenbrooks, in which he played the role of the Bendix Greenish, he became known to a wider audience. He often portrayed villains and villains, but always on a strange subtle way

He married his fellow actress Selma Urfer. Together they had three children, including the feature film director Dominik Graf. Increasingly, Robert Graf played with now and in TV productions. In 1961 he was awarded the Peace Prize of the city of Munich. In the highly acclaimed film The Great Escape, he embodied the German guards Werner.

In 1965 he had to be amputated a foot due to a vascular disease. A little later, he died 42 years old at his home in Munich. The grave site is located on the Bogenhausener cemetery in Munich ( grave No. 3-3-59 ).
