Robert Greacen

Robert Greacen ( born October 24, 1920 in Derry, Northern Ireland, † April 13, 2008 in Dublin, Ireland) was an Irish poet and essayist.

Robert Greacen grew up in Belfast and County Monaghan. After attending the Methodist school in Belfast, he studied at Trinity College, Dublin. Already during his studies he published his first poems and essays.

He lived after studying for many years in London and worked as a journalist as well as in adult education. In 1949, he was with Valentin Iremonger editor of " Faber Book of Contemporary Poetry". He was a member of Aosdána, a limited to 250 members of Irish Artists Association.

Robert Greacen 1995 awarded the " Irish Times Literature Prize For Poetry " for his Collected Poems 1944-1994.
