Robert Greene ( born May 14, 1959 in Los Angeles ) is an American writer. He studied at the University of California at Berkeley and the University of Wisconsin at Madison Classics and Comparative Literature. After graduating, he worked in New York as an editor and journalist for several magazines, among others for the Esquire, and in Hollywood as a screenwriter. Life

In 1995, Greene was involved in the planning and realization of the art school Fabrica near Venice, where he met the New York concept developer and designer Joost Elffers. In the intriguing atmosphere of Fabrika recognized both the timelessness of Machiavelli, and during many discussions in Venice, the idea was born to a book about power and manipulation, a modern version of Machiavelli's prince.

The acquaintance between Robert and Joost became a business partnership, and there was Power - The 48 Laws of Power. The book was both in the U.S. and internationally a bestseller and was translated into 24 languages.

His second book, The 24 Laws of Seduction, is more than a sequel to the 48 laws of power. It is both a handbook on the application of the ultimate form of power, as well as vivid journey through the history of the greatest seducers.

He settled in 1987 in his hometown of Los Angeles, where he lives as a screenwriter, playwright, essayist and translator. He is currently working on a theater project. His third book, The 33 Strategies of War, was published in January 2006. A German translation of his third book is not yet available.

On 11 July 2006 Robert Greene published officially announced his new blog.
