Robert Grossman

Robert Grossmann (* March 1, 1940 in New York City ) is an American cartoonist, caricaturist, illustrator and animator.

Life and work

Grossmann studied until 1961 at Yale University Fine Arts and was at that time out the humorous college newspaper Yale Record. After finishing his studies, he worked briefly at the New Yorker magazine Weekly, since 1963 works but freelancing as a cartoonist and caricaturist. It created numerous drawings of contemporary personalities who realized Grossman with pen and spray gun. Illustrations Grossman appeared, among others, in New York Magazine, Rolling Stone, The Nation and The New Yorker; more than 500 times were to see his works on magazine covers. He also drew film posters, including the poster with the knotted aircraft for the film The Incredible Journey in a crazy aircraft from 1980, as well as record covers.

His cartoons sat Grossman partially around in small sculptures. As a producer he was involved in the Knetanimationsfilm Jimmy the C of Jimmy Picker and received an Oscar nomination in 1978 for Best Animated Short. In the 1980s, Grossman realized with his brother David Grossman also several promotional animated films.
