Robert H. McNaught

Robert H. McNaught ( b. 1956 in Scotland) is a British- Australian astronomer. He works at the Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics of the Australian National University and has worked with David Asher of the Armagh Observatory.

McNaught is a committed observer and already discovered more than 350 asteroids. He is also the co-discoverer of the periodic comets 130P/McNaught-Hughes. As part of the Siding Spring Survey McNaught is concerned with the study and observation of near-Earth asteroids and comets. At the Siding Spring Observatory in August 2006, he succeeded the discovery of comet C/2006 P1 ( McNaught ), which has become the brightest comet in early 2007 for decades.
