Robert Hood

Robert Hood is an American techno DJ and producer from Detroit. He is considered the godfather of minimal techno. As a member of the legendary Underground Resistance his own productions also have the style Detroit techno influenced.

Born in the late 1960s in Detroit, Robert Hood had to witness the age of six years, as his father was killed. He himself survived only with a lot of luck. Hood found primarily in the music refuge and consolation. Soul, funk, electro funk, disco and hip-hop accompanied him to the teen years.

Later he first heard the early techno productions of Derrick May and Hood decided to buy his own music equipment. On his first demo tape he rapped about self -produced rhythms. The tape fell into the hands of Mike Banks, who was about to start with Jeff Mills the music project and label Underground Resistance. Banks liked Hoods music and brought him into the team. At first, Hood served as MC at performances of Underground Resistance, later he finally became a member. Between 1990 and 1992 some productions that became legendary within the techno scene and have a special status still popular today. This included a series of publications on the label Tresor Records, which were the beginning of the Berlin Detroit connection. 1992 left Jeff Mills and Underground Resistance on Hood himself.

By 1994, with his albums Hood Internal Empire and Minimal Nation and through the creation of his own record label M -Plant is an important foundation for the style minimal techno. Today he is considered one of the forefathers of this musical genre.

In 1995 he gained through the blending of techno and jazz again much attention.
