Robert I, Count of Nassau

Ruprecht I (* 1090, † 1154 ) was from 1123, Count of Nassau.

Ruprecht was the eldest son of Count Dudo - Henry of Lauren Castle and Anastasia von Arnstein. Count Dudo already erected around 1080 the castle and put Lauren in 1100 the foundations of the castle of Nassau. Together with his brother Arnold I. advanced by Lauren Castle Ruprecht from 1120 Nassau Castle and called himself Count of Nassau. This title was confirmed in 1159 but only after his death by the Archbishop of Trier, after this the area eintauschte with the Diocese of Worms to Nassau against his court to Partenheim in Nahegau and the castle was the Lauren Burger fief. 1124 was Ruprecht Vogt the reign Weilburg, which he took as a fief of the Bishopric of Worms. After Idstein 1122 Weilburg then became part of the Nassauer fief. Ruprecht was thus able to extend the acquis of the House of Nassau crucial.

Progeny

Ruprecht married before 1135 Beatrix of Limburg, daughter of the Duke Walram III. of Lower -Lorraine. With her he had children:

  • Walram I., († 1198 )
  • Arnold II ( † around 1158 ), he was a Count of Nassau. About a marriage is not known. Father of Rupert III. of Nassau.
