Robert IV, Count of Dreux

Robert IV (* 1241, † November 12, 1282 ) was a Count of Dreux and Braine. He was a son of Count John I of Dreux and his wife, Marie de Bourbon.

Robert married in 1260 Beatrix, Countess of Montfort l'Amaury and the mistress of Rochefort, daughter and heiress of John I of Montfort. Their children were:

  • Yolande (* 1269, † August 2, 1322 ), Countess of Montfort, ∞ I) on November 1, 1285 in Jedburgh with King Alexander III. of Scotland ( † 1286), ∞ II) in 1292 with Duke Arthur II of Brittany († 1312)
  • Johanna († April 11, 1325 ), Countess of Braine and Rochefort, ∞ I) in 1292 with John IV, Count of Roucy († 1302) ∞ II) ∞ May 1304 with Johann von Bar, Lord of Puisaye († 1317 )
  • Beatrix (* 1270, † 1328 ), Abbess of Port Royal des Champs
  • Robert ( † 1303 in Flanders), Lord of Château- du- Loir

Robert took in 1270 in the crusade of King Louis IX. to Africa in part ( Seventh Crusade ). 1272 he participated in the campaign of King Philip III. against Count Roger Bernard III. part of Foix. After his death he was buried in the Abbey of Saint- Yved in Braine.
