Robert J. Kelleher

Robert J. Kelleher ( born March 5, 1913 in New York City, New York, † June 20, 2012 in Los Angeles ) was an American tennis player, umpire and functionary as well as a lawyer.

Career

Robert Kelleher was from 1932 to 1937 Assistant Referee at the U.S. National Tennis Championships in Forrest Hills. 1962 and 1963 he was the captain of the U.S. Davis Cup team that won the competition in 1963. Before the start of the Open Era Kelleher was in the years 1967 and 1968 president of the " United States Lawn Tennis Association " ( USTLA ). This managerial career was preceded by two years the vice presidency. He belonged to the committee of the International Tennis Hall of Fame, into which he was inducted in 2000. He was also a member of the "Great Britain International Club".

His legal career began Kelleher after completing his education at Williams College and Harvard Law School. He worked from 1941 to 1942 for the Army Office and was from 1948 to 1951 Deputy Attorney for the Southern District of California. After he had operated since 1951, a private firm in Beverly Hills, he was appointed in 1970 by U.S. President Richard Nixon to the judge at the Federal District Court for the Middle District of California. He went his duties by up to 5 March 1983, when he joined the senior status.
