Robèrt Lafont

Robert Lafont ( born March 16, 1923 in Nîmes, † June 24, 2009 in Florence) was a French author and high school teacher.

Life

He was co-founder and Chairman of the times, Institut d'Estudis Occitans .. He taught as a professor of linguistics at the Université Montpellier III. In addition to literary works in the Occitan language he composed numerous French-language books in which he turned against the political and cultural centralization of France and represented regionalist positions. In contrast to Jean -François Gravier, who called for a decentralization of economic considerations, Lafont represented an ethnic regionalism. In 1974, he announced a " candidate of the minority " to run for the office of the French president, this project but could not put it into practice. In 1976 he was awarded the Prize of the Ossian FVS Foundation awarded.
