Robert LeBel

Robert LeBel ( born September 21, 1905 in Quebec City, Quebec; † 20 September 1999) was a Canadian ice hockey official.

Career

Robert LeBel founded the Inter Provincial Senior League, which he was president from 1944 to 1947. From 1955 to 1957 he headed the Quebec Amateur Hockey League, before twelve years to 1969 as president of the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association worked directly afterwards. He also served from 1960 to 1962 president of the International Ice Hockey Federation IIHF. In 1970 he was inducted for his contributions to hockey in the Hockey Hall of Fame. The Trophée Robert LeBel, which has been awarded annually since 1978 to the crew of the Canadian top junior league QMJHL with the lowest Gegentorschnitt, is named after him.

Robert LeBel was also mayor of the city of Chambly.
