Robert Longo

Robert Longo ( born January 7, 1953 in Brooklyn, New York) is an American artist who lives and works in New York. Since 1994, he is married to German actress Barbara Sukowa.

Life and work

Longo graduated, after a teaching art in the studio of sculptor Leonda Finke and a student at the Academy of Art in Florence, his studies at Buffalo State College in upstate New York, where he graduated in 1975. In 1974, he joined contact with the fellow student Cindy Sherman and sat down in the following years intensively with the media installation, performance and video art and photography apart.

The artist is among others in the fields of visual arts ( painting, printmaking, mixed media, multimedia), film and music video artistically active. After his directorial debut, Arena Brains (1988 ), he led the 1995 on a short story by William Gibson based film Johnny Mnemonic the Director.

Longo, the Emperor the city of Goslar was awarded for the year 2005.
