Robert Mateusiak

Robert Bogumil Mateusiak ( born January 13, 1976 in Wołomin ) is a Polish badminton player. He belonged to the Polish selection for the 2000 Summer Olympics, 2004, 2008 and 2012.

Sporting career

Mateusiak 1992 she won his first title at the Polish Junior Championships along with Sylwia Rutkiewicz in mixed doubles. In 1996 he won with it the first gold medal in the adult. Previously, once successfully in 1994 at the Junior Championships, together with Dariusz Karczmarczyk the men's doubles. In 1995 he won both the individual as well as in mixed, this time with Anna Michalik at his side. When the series champion in the adult he became from 1999 onwards. Starting in 1999, he won by 2008 all national title in mixed doubles (1999 by Monika Bienkowska, 2000-2005 Barbara Kulanty and 2006-2008 with Nadieżda Kostiuczyk ). With Michał Łogosz he won between 1999 and 2008 ( up to 2006), all title in the men's doubles. With it, he could also qualify for the 2000 Summer Olympics, 2004 and 2008. In the first two starts last stop was in each case in the second round in the men's doubles. In 2008, he was also in mixed with Nadieżda Kostiuczyk at the start. In both disciplines, it was enough in these games, even for the quarter-finals, with which he was one of Europe's most successful starter in badminton at the 2008 Olympics. In 2012 he reached Kostiuczyk - Zieba in mixed again the quarter-finals, but lost narrowly 21:19, 16:21, 21:23 the later silver medalists Xu Chen / Ma Jin from China.

Mateusiak played from 1997 to 2008 for the German club Blau-Weiss Wittorf Neumünster mainly in the 2nd Bundesliga. For the 2008/2009 season, he moved to Denmark to Greve Strands Badminton Club.
