Robert Phillipson

Robert Phillipson ( born March 16, 1942 in England ) is a British linguist who lives in Denmark.

Phillipson was head of the former Institute for Languages ​​and Cultures at the University of Roskilde and then became a research professor at the Faculty of English Language of the Copenhagen Business School. Today he is an emeritus professor at the Faculty of International Business Communication. Phillipson researches and publishes in the areas of applied linguistics, English and interlinguistics, including on the topics of language policy ( especially language imperialism ), the role of English in the world, as well as foreign language teaching.

Phillipson has three children: Caspar, Thomas and Louise. He is married to Tove Skutnabb - Kangas.
