Robert Scott (philologist)

Robert Scott ( born January 26, 1811 in Bond Leigh, Devonshire, † December 2, 1887 in Rochester ) was a British Classic philologist and lexicographer.

He studied classics at Oxford and was a Fellow and later Master at Balliol College, Oxford University. Together with Henry George Liddell, he gave the Greek - English Lexicon out. He underwent seven editions (1843, 1845, 1849, 1855, 1861, 1869 and 1882 ) before he died as Dean of Rochester (since 1870).
