Robert Seiringer

Robert Seiringer ( born September 1, 1976 in Vöcklabruck ) is an Austrian mathematical physicist.

Life and work

Seiringer studied physics at the University of Vienna, where he received his diploma in 1999 and was awarded his doctorate in 2000 at Jacob Yngvason. In 2005 he completed his habilitation at the University of Vienna. In 2001 he went ( with a Schrödinger scholarship) at Princeton University. There he became assistant professor in 2003. From 2010 to 2013 he was an associate professor at McGill University. Since May 2013, is a professor at the Institute of Science and Technology Austria, Klosterneuburg. He is also an adjunct professor at the University of Vienna.

Seiringer reach substantial progress in the mathematical theory of quantum gases and specifically the Bose -Einstein condensation. He proved the existence of interacting Bosonengase in wholesale Pitaevski limiting case partly in collaboration with Elliott Lieb. They proved the superfluidity in this limit and the derivative of the Gross- Pitaevskii equation in the special case of BEC in rotating containers.

In 2009 he received the Henri Poincaré Prize.
