Robert Senator

Senator Ronald (* 1926) is an English composer and music educator.

Senator studied at Oxford at Egon Wellesz. He was a professor of music at the University of London and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and has been a guest professor in the USA, Canada and Australia held. He was also a founding member of the Montserrat Composers ' Association, founding director of the National Association of Music Theatre and a board member of the Composers' Guild.

In addition to several musicals and operas composed by Senator oratorios and cantatas, chamber music and orchestral works. His most famous work is the Holocaust Requiem, also called Kaddish for Terezin known. The composition of poems by children from the Theresienstadt concentration camp in 1986 was first performed in the Cathedral of Canterbury under the auspices of the United Nations, the B'nai B'rith, the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany and the International Council of Christians and Jews. The performance received worldwide attention and was broadcast on radio and television. After the New York premiere in 1990, the work was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize. At the Moscow premiere of the Metropolitan of the Russian Orthodox Church appeared.

His wife Dita Memories, a survivor of Auschwitz, who died of cancer, published in 1981 Senator in the form of an exchange of letters with her under the title Requiem Letters.
