Robert Shaye
Robert Shaye, known as Bob Shaye ( born March 3, 1939 in Detroit, Michigan) is an American film producer, director and founder of New Line Cinema. As a producer, he was responsible for the Nightmare series and the film adaptation of Lord of the Rings.
Life
At the age of 15 he made his first film: a training video for employees of his father's supermarket.
As a young filmmaker Robert Shaye won the first prize of the Society of Cinematologists ' Rosenthal Competition in the category of Best American director under 25
In 1967, Shaye New Line Cinema as a film distribution company. She grew up to be one of the biggest independent film production company and is now part of the Time Warner Group.
In 1991 Shaye was honored at the Saturn Awards with the President's Award. He received four years at the Gotham Awards an award in the category of Lifetime Achievement. In 2007 he won it in the BAFTA / LA Britannia Awards Britannia Award.
Robert Shaye is the older brother of actress Lin Shaye.
