Robert Smith (colonial administrator)

Charles Robert Smith ( born November 13, 1887November 4, 1959 ) was a British colonial administrator and governor of British North Borneo.

He took office in 1937 by James Douglas Jardine. When the Japanese occupied during the Second World War, Borneo, he fell on the morning of January 19, 1942 in a prisoner of war and was deported to the Batu Lintang camp at Kuching. After his return from captivity in August 1945 and the end of Japanese territorial he was from the September 10, 1945 officially back in the governorship. His term ended in November 1946.
