Robert Van Lancker
Robert Van Lancker (born 11 December 1946 in Grace- Berleur ) is a former Belgian cyclist and two-time world champion in the sprint.
In 1966, Robert Van Lancker third in the Belgian Championship in Sprint amateurs. In the following year he was with Daniel Goens Belgian champion in tandem race. This success could the two repeat a year later. The successful pairing Van Lancker / Goens 1968 Vice World Champion in tandem at the UCI Track World Championships in Rome, after they had already occupied the third place the year before at the World Championships in Amsterdam. In the same year, the pair won at the Olympic Games in Mexico City, the bronze medal in tandem.
After the Olympics, Robert Van Lancker stepped over to the professionals and was promptly vice-champion in the sprint in front of his home crowd in Antwerp. After winning several national titles in tandem sprint and in 1972 he was in Leicester champion in the sprint. He repeated at the World Championships in San Sebastian this success the following year. In 1976 he retired from cycling.
