Robert Walter Johnson

Robert Walter Johnson ( born April 16, 1899 in Norfolk, Virginia, † June 28, 1971 in Lynchburg, Virginia ) was an American tennis official.

Life and performance

Johnson fought for the equality of white and African-American tennis players and promoted the careers of tennis legends such as Althea Gibson and Arthur Ashe. In the American Tennis Association (ATA ), founded in 1916 Robert Walter Johnson created the ATA Junior Development Program, which hundreds of African-American and white adolescents ünterstützte.
