Robert Warzycha

Robert Warzycha ( born August 20, 1963 in Siemkowice ) is a Polish football coach and former football player. The former midfielder currently training the Columbus Crew, who plays in Major League Soccer.

The greatest part of his career as a footballer he spent in Europe. He played for clubs in Poland, Hungary and England. His greatest successes came with Gornik Zabrze. As part of the team twice Polish Champion could be and even win the cup.

From 1987 to 1993 he was an integral part of the Polish national team.

Playing career

Association

Warzycha moved in 1996 to the Columbus Crew. He previously played for over ten years in Europe soccer, among other things, also in the English Premier League for Everton. His last stop before the U.S. was Honvéd Budapest with which he could win the 1996 Hungarian Football Cup.

When the crew he belonged to the 2001 season to the regular players. A season later, he finished his career as threw him back injuries over again. At end of his career he was a record holder for most templates within the team.

National

For the Polish national football team, he played a total of 47 times and was able to achieve seven goals.

Coaching career

After retiring as an active player, he was an assistant coach with the Columbus Crew. After Greg Andrulis was fired in 2005 took over Warzycha briefly as coach. Even under Sigi Schmid he was still an assistant coach.

After Schmid moved to the Seattle Sounders was Warzycha new head coach of the team and won in his first season in this position, the MLS Supporters' Shield.

Trivia

His son, Konrad Warzycha also plays football. Since the 2011 season, this is the squad of Sporting Kansas City. Another son Bartosz (* 1990) played for the counterparties located in Westerville, Ohio Blast FC and at the Marshall University. The Warzycha family member of the Polish parish Ohio.
