Robert Wyler

Robert Wyler ( born September 25, 1900 in Mulhouse; † January 17, 1971 in Los Angeles ) was an American film producer, screenwriter and film director.

Wyler began his work in 1931 as director of three French movies, but had to leave the country because of his Jewish faith after Hitler came to power and emigrate to the United States. In 1936, he was there his film debut as an author of the screenplay of the film classic " time of love, time to say goodbye ." Under the direction of his brother William Wyler and with Walter Huston and Ruth Chatterton in the lead roles, the film won an Academy Award in the category "Best Production Design " and was nominated in six other categories.

A total of eight films Wyler produced and wrote the screenplay for this. In each of these films led his younger brother William Director. Contributors have included Olivia de Havilland, Montgomery Clift, Kirk Douglas, Eleanor Parker, Gregory Peck, Audrey Hepburn, Humphrey Bogart, Jean Simmons and Shirley MacLaine.

For the film " Police Station 21 " by 1951 he was in the "Best Screenplay " nominated along with Philip Yordan with the Oscar in the category. But his last film " The Children's Hour " from 1961 was nominated for five Academy Awards.

Wyler was married from 1948 until her death in April 1970 with the film actress Cathy O'Donnell. He died less than a year later of a heart attack.
