Roberto Abbado

Roberto Abbado ( born December 30, 1954 in Milan ) is an Italian conductor.

Life

Roberto Abbado is the son of the composer Marcello Abbado and the nephew of conductor Claudio Abbado. He studied with Franco Ferrara at the Teatro La Fenice, Venice and at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. There he was the only student who ever allowed the Orchestra di Santa Cecilia conduct. At 23, he conducted his first opera, Giuseppe Verdi's Simon Boccanegra. From 1991 to 1998 he was chief conductor of the Munich Radio Orchestra. It occurs worldwide with famous orchestras and soloists.
