Roberto Bonomi

Roberto Bonomi ( born September 30, 1919 in Buenos Aires, † January 10, 1992 ) was an Argentine racing driver.

Roberto Bonomi grew up as the son of wealthy parents in Argentina. Bonomi itself was the owner of a large estate in his home country. His motorsport activities were limited almost exclusively to South America, in the 1950s he started but twice at the Targa Florio. 1952 and 1953 he was Argentine sports car champion. To use this came different brand cars Ferrari. In 1954, he drove the entire sports car season with a Ferrari 250MM Vignale. Bonomi won several 500-mile road races, including the Primavera event, the Costa Nera Lealtad and the race in Mendoza.

In the 1950s he was a regular, committed by the European and American factory teams as Scuderia Ferrari, Maserati and Chevrolet, the 1000 km race in Buenos Aires. In 1957, he was with Luigi Piotti as a partner seventh overall on a Maserati 350S.

Towards the end of the 1950s Bonomi drove in the Argentine sports car championship, but switched from Ferrari to Maserati. His new emergency vehicle was a Maserati 300S.

His only start in Formula 1 in 1960 at the Grand Prix of Argentina. Bonomi bought a race for Scuderia Centro Sud in. With a Cooper T51 -Maserati Bonomi went from 17th on the grid into the race and ended it with four laps down eleventh.
