Roberto Castelli

Roberto Castelli ( born July 12, 1946 in Lecco ) is an Italian politician of the Lega Nord.

Life

Castelli studied engineering at the Milan Polytechnic and is a member of the Northern League since 1986. In 1992 he succeeded the catchment as a deputy in the Camera dei deputati which he remained until May 1996. Since May May 1996, he is a senator in the Senato della Repubblica. As followers of Piero Fassino he was on June 11, 2001 to May 17, 2006 Minister of Justice in Italy in the government cabinet of Silvio Berlusconi. He was succeeded in office as Minister of Justice Clemente Mastella. As Minister of Justice he set in 2005 by a highly controversial judicial reform. A pardon the Italian journalist Adriano Sofri he prevented in his tenure as Minister of Justice.
