Roberto Moya

Roberto Saturnino Moya Sandoval ( born February 11, 1965 in Havana ) is a retired Cuban discus thrower.

He won in 1987 and 1989 at the Central American and Caribbean Championships. In 1989 he took the bronze medal at the Universiade in Duisburg and won his first of five Cuban championship titles in the discus throw ( more followed from 1992 to 1995 ). He also won at the Central American and Caribbean Games in 1990 in Mexico City.

At the global level Moya met for the first time at the World Athletics Championships 1991 in Tokyo in appearance, where he finished eighth. The most significant success of his career, he scored by winning the bronze medal at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona. There he placed himself with a width of 64.12 m behind Romas Ubartas ( 65.12 m ) and Jürgen Schult ( 64.94 m).

Moya's last great international success was winning the title at the Pan American Games in 1995 in Mar del Plata. At the Olympic Games in 1996, he retired from the other hand already in the qualifying round.

Roberto Moya is 1,97 m tall and had a competition weight of 135 kg. In 2001 he received the Spanish citizenship.
