Roberto Palacios

Roberto Palacios ( born December 28, 1972 in Lima) is a Peruvian football player and most capped player in his country. His nickname is El Chorillano. He plays in midfield.

National

His debut in the Peruvian national team, he celebrated on November 24, 1992 in Ecuador. In 1993, he scored his first international goal in a World Cup qualifier against Argentina. In 1995 he first wore the shirt number 10 since July 6, 2004, he is his country's most capped player. With his 106th international game, he surpassed the record set by Héctor Chumpitaz. Overall, he has played 128 matches in which he scored 19 goals. His most last match he played against Nigeria on 23 May 2012 after he was no longer used in the qualifying match for the World Cup 2010 since the 1-3 defeat against Venezuela on 9 September 2009.

Club career

In 1991, he debuted in the first team of Sporting Cristal from his hometown of Lima. In his first game he also scored his first goal. With Sporting Cristal, he won a total of four times the Peruvian championship (1991 and 1994-1996). In 1996 he left the club, but returned twice more to Sporting Cristal back. He also played for clubs in Mexico, Brazil, Colombia and Ecuador. Following a brawl between players from Liga de Quito and Barcelona SC Guayaquil he had been locked in December 2007 in Ecuador for 12 months. After reduction of the punishment he moved in June 2007 to Sporting Cristal.
