Roberts's Warbler

The Robertsprinie ( Oreophilais robertsi ) is a medium-sized passerine bird in the family of Halmsängerartigen ( Cisticolidae ). Previously the species was classified in the genus Prinia. Because of the differences to the other species of the genus Prinia, created by the Scottish ornithologist Phillip Alexander Clancey 1991, the monotypic genus Oreophilais for this taxon. Was named the Robertsprinie to Austin Roberts, a prominent South African ornithologists.

Description

The Robertsprinie reached a size of 14 to 15 centimeters. The weight is 9 grams. The head is olive brown and the eyes are yellow. The beak and throat have a gray tint. The back and legs are brown.

Distribution and habitat

Its distribution area is Zimbabwe and Mozambique. She lives on the edges and glades of mountain forests (usually at altitudes above 1400 m ).

Way of life

The species is monogamous. The nest is built in the dense canopy where it is well protected with branches and leaves. The female lays two to three brown eggs. The Robertsprinie roams the thorny undergrowth solitary or in pairs. Their diet consists of insects such as butterflies, grasshoppers, ants, wasps and bees.
