Roberts ZÄ«le

Roberts Zīle ( born June 20, 1958 in Riga) is a Latvian economist and politician of the party Tēvzemei ​​un Brīvībai / LNNK. Since 2006 he is the chairman of the party. He is a former Minister of Finance and Minister of Communications in his country. Since 2009 he is a member of the European Parliament.

Biography

Zīle visited in Riga Secondary School No. 25 and graduated in 1981 to study economics at the University of Latvia. In 1997 he received his PhD in Economics at the Latvian University of Agriculture in Jelgava

During the 1990s Zīle was a member of the City Council of Riga. In 1995 he was elected one of the representatives of Riga in the 6th Saeima.
