Robertson County (Tennessee)

Robertson County is a county located in the state of Tennessee in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Springfield.

Geography

The County is located in the north of Tennessee, bordering Kentucky and has an area of 1235 square kilometers, of which 1 square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Todd County (Kentucky), Logan County (Kentucky), Simpson County (Kentucky), Sumner County, Davidson County, Cheatham County and Montgomery County.

History

Robertson County was formed on 9 April 1796 as original county from the Tennessee territory. It was named after James Robertson, a companion of Daniel Boone on his third expedition, co-founder of the Watauga settlement in the Watauga River Valley, co-founder of the Fort Nashborough which later became today was known Nashville and later politician from Tennessee.
