Robin Ammerlaan

Robin Lucien Ammerlaan ( born February 26, 1968 in The Hague) is a Dutch wheelchair tennis player. He was not dependent from birth to a wheelchair, but was only in his late teens, more and more problems with walking due to spina bifida. Since 1998 he plays wheelchair tennis at the professional level. In 2002 he got the first time the number one in the world rankings. The same he made in 2004 in the doubles. Eventually he became world champion in late 2006 ( at the end of the year in the ranking Leading automatically receive this item ).

  • Paralympic Summer Games in Sydney in 2000: Gold in a double with Rick Mollier
  • Paralympic Summer Games in Athens in 2004: Gold in the individual
  • Paralympic Summer Games in Beijing in 2008: Silver in the individual
  • Summer Paralympics in London 2012: Fourth in a double.
  • Masters winner: 1999, 2000, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007
  • Much time winner of tournaments in the wheelchair tennis tour: eg Flanders Open 8x, Amsterdam Open, Sydney International Open and Tjechie per 5x.
