Robin Bawa

Robin N. Bawa ( March 26, 1966 in Duncan, British Columbia ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player. During his career he played for the Washington Capitals, Vancouver Canucks, San Jose Sharks and Mighty Ducks of Anaheim in the National Hockey League.

Career

Bawa played first five years 1982-1987 in the Western Hockey League with the Kamloops Junior Oilers, Kamloops Blazers and New Westminster Bruins. In 1984 he took part with the Junior Oilers at the Memorial Cup, and two years later, with the Blazers. At the end of the season 1986/87 he was elected after his best season with 113 points from 62 games in the West First All-Star team of the WHL.

Despite his strong last year in the Junior League of Canadians of Indian origin was ungedraftet in the 1987/88 season and played in the International Hockey League for the Fort Wayne Komets and the following year in the American Hockey League for the Baltimore Skipjacks, which of both farm teams Washington Capitals were. They had taken him as a free agent in May 1987 under contract and put him in the course of the 1989/90 season for the first time in five NHL games a. After the right- wingers had spent the entire season in 1990/91 in the IHL, transferred him to the Capitals to Vancouver Canucks. For the Sharks, he remained only six months, as he went as a free agent of the Sharks squad in the NHL Expansion Draft, 1993, the newly formed Mighty Ducks of Anaheim were able to fill their squad. After 42 games for San Jose last year Bawa came in the 1993/94 season his last twelve out of 61 games in the NHL.

The next five years 1994 to 1999 he played exclusively in the IHL, although the Dallas Stars had him under contract in the summer of 1994. After a head injury suffered at the end of the season 1998/99 he finally ended his career.
