Robin Herd

Robin Herd, CBE ( born March 23, 1939) is an English engineer, designer of racing cars and co-founder of the racing team March Engineering.

Career

McLaren

Stove studied at St Peter 's College, Oxford and worked as an engineer for the Royal Aircraft Establishment in the development of Concorde. In 1965 he was recruited by McLaren and on behalf of Firestone with the development of the McLaren M2, a race car test vehicle from a composite of wood and aluminum, entrusted. The car was used in 1966 with little success in Formula 1. However hearth sports car for the CanAm series won in 1966, 1967 and 1968 titles for McLaren. Stove designed the McLaren M7A for the 1968 season and then switched to Cosworth, in order to develop a four-wheel drive Formula 1 cars.

March Engineering

The new company quickly evolved into a successful racing car manufacturer. The end of 1977 was the last remaining stove in the company charter member. He pulled back from the March Formula 1 and focused on the construction of vehicles for Formula 2 and Formula 3

After a brief, unsuccessful return to Formula 1 in the 1981 season stove shifted his field of activity in the United States. The March - Indy cars were the dominant cars of the 1980s.
