Robin Kelly

Robin Lynne Kelly ( born April 30, 1956 in New York City ) is an American politician. Since 2013, it represents the state of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Robin Kelly attended to 1982 Bradley University in Peoria. In 2004, she was still a student at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb philosophy. She first worked as a nurse in a hospital in Peoria and then as Head of the emergency department ( Director of the Crisis Nursery ). In addition, she has served in the 1980s more jobs in the medical service. Politically, she joined the Democratic Party. Between 1992 and 2006 she headed the public relations department of the city of Matteson. From 2002 to 2007 she was a Member of the House of Representatives from Illinois, where she was a member of seven committees. Between 2007 to 2010 she headed the staff of the Minister of Finance ( State Treasurer ) of Illinois, Alexi Giannoulias. In 2010, she was a candidate himself but for finance minister, but lost to Republican Dan Rutherford. After that she worked as a CAO in the management in Cook County.

Following the resignation of Mr Jesse Jackson Jr., who had come into conflict with the law, Kelly was at the due election for the second seat from Illinois as his successor in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where they took up their new mandate on April 9, 2013. In the primary of their party they had previously prevailed clearly against the former congressman Debbie Halvorson. She is a member of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and the Committee on Science, Space and Technology.
