Robin Widdows

Robin Widdows ( born May 27, 1942 in Cowley, England ) is a British former racing driver.

Widdows was at the beginning of the 1960s, one of the best British bobsleigh pilot. As a member of the British bobsled team, he participated in the Winter Olympic Games 1964 in Innsbruck and 1968 Grenoble.

His first successes in motorsport celebrated Widdows mid -1960s. In 1965, he won with a Lotus 23 the British Autosport Class C championship in the next season he raced in the Formula 3 From Friends financially supported increased Widdows 1967 in the Formula 2 European Championship. The highlight of the year was the victory at the Rhein- Cup at Hockenheim.

In 1968 he had his only appearance in the Formula 1 team leadership of the once successful Cooper team asked him a Cooper T86B BRM for the Grand Prix of Great Britain at Brands Hatch are available. After problems with the ignition but Widdows had to retire.

1969 drove Widdows again in Formula 2 for the team of Bob Gerard, he won the Lottery Grand Prix and finished second in Reims. He also participated in sports car racing for Matra. With Nanni Galli he was seventh in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. After another season in Formula 2 Widdows joined the end of the 1970 season surprisingly retired from racing.
