Robur Carolinum

The Karl oak (lat. Robur Carolinum ) is a constellation of the southern sky, which is not among the 88 of the International Astronomical Union ( IAU) recognized constellations.

Charles Oak is now part of the official constellations keel of the ship ( Carina ) and sailing of the ship ( Vela ). It is located in the eastern part of the said two constellations that used together with the aft deck of the ship ( Puppis ) the historical constellation ship Argo formed.

Charles Oak is crossed by the Milky Way, and contains some relatively bright stars such as μ Velorum 2.69m, θ Carinae 2.74mund ω Carinae 3.29m. Also located in the Oak numerous star clusters and nebulae, including the famous Carina Nebula (NGC 3372) and the open cluster IC 2602nd

Was introduced in the constellation of the English astronomer Edmond Halley in 1679, in honor of King Charles II
