Roby Lakatos
Roby Lakatos (born 1965 in Budapest) is a Hungarian gypsy violinist.
Life
His family, the Lakatos dynasty, which dates back to János Bihari, is rooted in the Hungarian gypsy music for several generations. Roby Lakatos developed his musical talent within his family before the " Béla Bartók Conservatory " in Budapest began his studies in 1984 he successfully completed.
Between 1986 and 1996 he played with his ensemble in a Brussels restaurant with gypsy jazz. Here visited him, among others, Sir Yehudi Menuhin, by this attention began his international career that has led him to the great concert halls of the world. He had joint presentations with colleagues Vadim Repin and Stéphane Grappelli. In March 2004, he was invited to London at the festival " Genius of the Violin ", where he has performed with the London Symphony Orchestra at the side of Maxim Vengerov. Lakatos was awarded an exclusive contract with Deutsche Grammophon Gesellschaft.
