Robyn Regehr

Robyn Regehr (* 18 April 1980 in Recife, Brazil ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who is since April 2013, with the Los Angeles Kings in the National Hockey League contract. His younger brother Richie is also a professional hockey player.

Career

The 1.91 m wide defender, was born the son of a Mennonite family in Recife, the capital of the Brazilian state of Pernambuco. After he had spent his first three years in Brazil, he went with his family to Indonesia on the island of Java, where he remained four years.

1999 Regehr was involved in a serious car accident when his car near his home town of Rosthern, Saskatchewan was hit by another vehicle. Two people in the other car were killed, Regehr himself suffered fractures in both shins.

He began his career with the Kamloops Blazers in the Canadian junior Western Hockey League before he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1998 as the 19th player in the first round by the Colorado Avalanche.
