Rochefort Brewery

Rochefort is a Trappist beer that is brewed in the Abbey of Notre- Dame de Saint -Remy in Rochefort in the Belgian province of Namur.

In addition to five other Trappist Rochefort only allowed to carry the proprietary label Authentic Trappist Product in Belgium: Achel, Chimay, Orval, Westvleteren and Westmalle; and La Trappe in the Netherlands and since 2012 Engelszell in Austria.

Beers

  • Rochefort 6: Red Bottle Cap, 33cl, 7.5 % alcohol, the oldest Rochefort beer.
  • Rochefort 8: green bottle caps, 33 cl, 9.2% alcohol, sometimes called Spéciale, brewed since 1955
  • Rochefort 10: blue bottle caps, 33 cl, 11.3% alcohol, often called Merveille.

Annual beer production: 18,000 hl.

Enjoyment

Rochefort beer is preferred enjoyed 12 to 14 ° C. This temperature is ideal to enjoy a fresh Rochefort with its rich fruit and Karamelaromen. Rochefort is served in two courses. Only about nine-tenths of the bottle slowly poured into the Trappistenkelch and tasted a clear Rochefort. In second gear, which is also tasty last tenth is drunk with the vitamin-rich yeast lees.
