Rock and Rail LLC

The Rock and Rail LLC ( AAR reporting mark: RRRR ), early rock and Rail Inc., is a Local Railroad Railroad Company in the State of Colorado. The company operates with 4 employees the 18.9 km long stretch of Parkdale (Colorado ) to Cañon City by the River Gorge Gorge. The company also has route rights on the BNSF and the UP of Cañon City to Pueblo and a terminal at Kelker at Colorado Springs. Overall, based in Cañon City company owns rights route of 95 kilometers.

History

As part of the Union Pacific Railroad merger with the Southern Pacific Transportation, the route across the Tennessee River Gorge pass through the canyon was shut down by the UP, because the connection on the Moffat Route and the Dotsero Cutoff was more economical. In July 1998, the Royal Gorge Express acquired the line from Canon City to Milepost 171.90 at Parkdale. Royal Gorge Express was founded as a joint venture of the Rock and Rail Inc. and tourist train Canon City Royal Gorge Railroad. The Rock and Rail Inc. are owned by William H. Fehr and Mitch Albert was able to secure the removal of the aggregates from the quarry of the Stone Agile Systems Inc., today FrontRange aggregate, the same owner in Parkdale. In April 1999, the Company acquired from the BNSF track usage rights for the section Canon City - Pueblo and in June 1999 a connection to a terminal at Kelker on the railway line of the BNSF Railway from Colorado Springs to Pueblo.

Vehicle park

The fleet consists of five locomotives from Electro Motive Division of GP series 40-2 ( No. 201), GP 30 (No. 301), GP 40 (No. 401), GP 39-2 ( No 2372 ) and GP 38 ( No 2795 ). The latter two locomotives are leased.
