Rock County (Nebraska)

Rock County is a county located in the state of Nebraska in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Bassett, according to the JW Bassett, an early rancher this area was named.

Geography

The County is located in the north of Nebraska, is about 30 km from South Dakota away and has an area of 2621 square kilometers, of which nine square miles are water. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Keya Paha County, Boyd County, Holt County, Loup County and Brown County.

History

Rock County was formed in 1888. It was named after the prevailing here rocky ground ( rocky soil ).
