Rock County (Wisconsin)

The Rock County is a county located in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. In 2010, the County had 160 331 inhabitants and a population density of 85.9 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Janesville, which was named after Henry F. Janes, who provided a regular ferry service first here.

Geography

The County is located in southern Wisconsin and is drained by the Rock River. The Rock County borders Illinois and has an area of 1881 square kilometers, of which 15 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered by the following counties:

History

The Rock County was formed in 1836 as an original county from parts of the Wisconsin Territory. It was named after the Rock River.

Population

According to the census in 2010 lived in Dane County 160 331 people in 62 745 households. The population density was 85.9 inhabitants per square kilometer. In the 62 745 households lived statistically 2.5 persons each.
