Rock Racing-Murcia

Rock racing is a former American cycling team.

History

The team was founded in 2007 and took with director Allen Bean as a Continental team in the UCI Continental Circuits preferred to American race part. The team was equipped with bikes of the brand De Rosa. Sponsor was the fashion brand Rock & Republic multimillionaire Michael Ball The team had an exclusive contract with Cadillac Escalade and took advantage of the model as a team vehicle. Sports director Rudy Pevenage were Laurenzo Lapage and Gary Hanson. Pevenage and Lapage left the team in late 2009, however, due to lack of salary payments; Lapage moved to Kazakhstan " Astana team ".

The team was due to the doping past its members several times in the criticism. Both Rudy Pevenage as well as the rider Tyler Hamilton, José Enrique Gutiérrez, Francisco Mancebo, Santiago Botero and Oscar Sevilla were customers of the doping doctor Eufemiano Fuentes or were, as in the case of Tyler Hamilton, found guilty of doping. However, Rudy Pevenage distanced himself on behalf of its drivers from the mistakes of the past. Nevertheless, Tyler Hamilton tested positive again in April 2009.

In addition to the doping scandals of its members that earned the team a bad-boy image, rock racing was through the spectacular commitment launched in 2005 by the professional cycling resigned Road World Champion of 2002 Mario Cipollini as a team consultant and drivers in personal union in January 2008, already a few weeks later ended after disagreements in the headlines.
