Rock Steady Crew

The Rock Steady Crew is a breakdancing crew, who founded in 1977 in the New York City borough of the Bronx. The founders were the b-boys Jimmy D and Jojo, which are among the first known breakdancers. To be included in the crew, the candidates had to defeat another crew member in a dance battle.

History

Around 1979, the breakdance scene arrived in New York in a crisis. At this time, the B -Boys Crazy Legs and Lenny Len were added to the crew that prevented an extremely talented breakdancer resolution of the crew. Crazy Legs moved shortly thereafter to Manhattan and wanted to start his own crew, who should be considered a chapter of Rock Steady Crew there. Until 1981 also agreed to Jimmy D the founding of the Rock Steady Crew in Manhattan. This appearance led to the recording contract with Charisma Records of the Department. They released their hit Hey You, The Rock Steady Crew, which grossed gold in several countries as a Top 10 hit. Financially, however, the crew saw very little of the success. A second single, Uprock, and an album followed. After the dissolution of Charisma Records, the contract went to Virgin Records, but first put it back. Within the Department there was trouble and dispute over the contract and it was decided to turn to other projects first.

Only in 1989 the crew was resuscitated after Crazy Legs returned to pressure from the B -Boys Jerry "Fast Feet " Fontanez and in collaboration with rapper Q -Unique in the club scene. In 1991, Mr. Wiggles approached Crazy Legs and hit him a musical titled So What Happens Now? before. Ken Swift and Buck 4 boarded and helped with the staging of a scene with.
